Good Life Farms Enjoying The Good Life Thanks To Hydroponics

 

Darin and Deb Kelly of Good Life Farms are enjoying a good bit of success after adding a hydroponic extension to their farm. The couple, who are based in Martinsville, Indiana, have been selling traditionally grown produce since 2006.

Since investing in hydroponics, the company has turned enough profit to furnish their homestead with three greenhouses. The greenhouses, which are used to cultivate lettuce, basil, and arugula hydroponically, produce 1, 250 plants ready for harvest each week and is operational year round.

While the farm isn't certified organic, the Kelly's do not use pesticides or herbicides but have instead chosen to embrace natural pest control methods. Their tasty vegetables have become so popular that Good Life Farms can be found at five farmer's markets around the Martinsville area in addition to being suppliers for local restaurants.

Good Life Farms also grows heirloom tomatoes, kale, spinach, and swiss chard in soil.
