Professional and amateur growers alike know the joy of sharing our babies with friends and family. Anyone who uses social media may be aware that Instagram is currently the top dog of photo-sharing applications, and for good reason — the intuitive free app has great filters and allows us to quickly edit our snapshots and share them across multiple formats with the push of a button. However, there are a variety of excellent non-Instagram apps on the market that allow greater control of the photo-editing process, or offer features not available through Instagram. If you download these three apps (all free), you will have all the tools needed to edit and share your precious flora like a pro.

Adobe Photoshop Express

Most of us are familiar with Adobe Photoshop. The smartphone and tablet incarnation, Photoshop Express, does not have the same detailed editing capabilities as its desktop counterpart, but this free app does allow us to customize many aspects of our photos, from basic cropping to detailed control over tint, hue, saturation, contrast, brightness and sharpness. It allows quick sharing of photos on most social networking sites, and also offers some fun filters ala Instagram and decent borders (mostly available via paid download). (Free)

BeFunky Photo Editor

BeFunky easily boasts the best editing features, like filters and borders. This app shows thumbnail previews of what your photo will look like with each filter before you apply the effect. BeFunky also has one of the best selections of free borders, with additional borders and filters available should you get the urge to spend some cash on the pro version. Like Instagram and Photoshop Express, users can quickly upload photos to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr. (Free / $1.99 for pro version)

PicCollage+ (aka Pic Jointer)

Now that you have edited and enhanced your photos, you may be looking for a creative way to share them. Why not create a photo collage? PicCollage+ is the cream of the crop among collage-making apps, with 64 available formats from four aspect ratios; customizable border size, shape and color; and easy rotation, movement and cropping of your pictures. Once complete, you can easily upload to Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. (Free)
