Jameson was promised at least $10,000 for a meet-and-greet style appearance and signing of her book. 
The capricious film star sent a four-line doctor's note (described by theater owner Ted Bulthaup as a “let-my-kid-out-of-school type note”) to the cinema owners via her agents claiming that she had suffered a “medical emergency” and could not make the gig. Jameson was promised at least $10,000 for a meet-and-greet style appearance and signing of her book. Her contract for the event also included first-class air travel, and all lodging and expenses while she was staying in Chicago.
When the note came, cinema owners had spent thousands of dollars promoting the event, and already sold hundreds of tickets. It's not surprising they're upset. Having to return those tickets must have been humiliating. Now, they're coming at Jameson hard (something the ex-porn star may be familiar with).
Not only is Jameson being sued for promotion costs and reimbursement of ticket sales, Hollywood owners want her to pay for loss of potential profit from the event, employee hours spent preparing for it, revenue that could have been generated had they shown different films, travel and lodging expenses, and damage to the theaters' reputation.
Ironically, Jameson’s husband, UFC fighter Tito Ortiz, is currently involved in his own mini-scandal as nude photos of Ortiz surfaced on the internet this week. Ortiz claims the photos are fake and is threatening legal action of his own against anyone who publishes the pics. It looks like the Jameson-Ortiz family might be getting more acquainted with their lawyers in 2011.
Jameson, whose real name is Jenna Marie Massoli is one of the rare pornstars to crossover to mainstream success (depending on how you define “success”), and has earned some strange kind of respect for having made that leap. But if there's anything to take away from this episode, it's that it’s expensive to get screwed by a porn star—and the relationship probably wont last.
