Why Visit Cape Town, South Africa?

Cape Town is the perfect blend of stunning scenery, African culture, and exciting wildlife. Cape Town is the perfect blend of stunning scenery, African culture, and exciting wildlife.

Cape Town, the Mother City of Africa, is regarded as one of the most beautiful regions in the world for good reason.  With the iconic Table Mountain standing proudly as its hallmark, Cape Town offers much for sightseers.  If you’re looking for adventure, this coastal city has plenty opportunities for fun and excitement.  From white water rafting to deep sea diving, there is something for everyone at Cape Town.  Here are a just few reasons to put Cape Town on your ‘must see’ destinations’ list.

Scenery

Upon reaching Cape Town, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the incredibly impressive Table Mountain.  This gigantic slab of sandstone offers breathtaking views, 350 hiking trails, and paragliding.  (Cable cars are available for the not-so-adventurous.)  You’ll see indescribable views of Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying a delicious meal at the mountain peak’s restaurant.  Down on the ground, gorgeous white sandy beaches frame the Cape Peninsula which also features picturesque rivers and a stunning floral landscape.

Culture

For the past four years, Cape Town has been ranked as one of the world’s top-ten best cities to visit in Travel & Leisure’s “World’s Best Cities” list.  One of the main reasons for Cape Town’s popularity is its unique African culture.  Although South Africa is the most modern of all the African countries (with well-developed facilities and amenities you hope to have on your vacation), it still possesses a rich and vibrant culture.  You can visit exquisite art at numerous galleries throughout the city, or take in some of the local talent at one of the area's outdoor theaters.  Classical music and dance are performed at the Artscape and Baxter Theaters, where you can see ballet, operas, and orchestral entertainment.

Wildlife

An amazing array of wildlife flourishes in Cape Town.  Locals and tourists alike enjoy whale watching on False Bay Coast, and observing the seals lounge around the harbor.  If you’re traveling with children, be sure to make a stop at Boulder Beach.  You can watch penguins at play – and even swim with them in the warm water.  Dozens of species of birds make their home in Cape Town, including flamingos, pelicans, egrets, and terns.  If you go snorkeling or scuba diving you’ll have the chance to see a variety of marine life including beautiful coral reefs, fish, penguins, dolphins, and sharks.

Adventure

From bungee jumping to canoeing, mountain biking to sailing – you’re sure to find something you just have to try.  The beaches are full of fun activities, both in and out of the water.  Surfing is very popular here, as well as deep sea diving and fishing.  When you’re looking for something a little less intense, check out one of the many golf courses.  The ranges are well-maintained and very affordable.  Of course no trip to Cape Town would be complete without a thigh-burning hike up Table Mountain.
