It makes no sense not brushing our teeth each day or taking a shower each morning. These things are considered norms by civilized human beings, and so should fitness. We have to put the same emphasis on our health and physical appearance to be fully-actualized and self-aware as people.

Concrete floors and rusty bars don’t seem like the ideal workout space, especially compared to a spacious, fully equipped gym. Yet, the urban environment has inspired a new breed of training. It’s usually called “the prison workout” but is also sometimes known as “convict conditioning” or simply “bodyweight strength training.” It’s a great workout for someone who needs action but is bored at the gym. Instead, the focus is internal and only occasionally relies on scaffolding, city parks, or parking meters for the bare equipment needs. Because of the minimalistic approach, it’s also one of the greenest workouts around.

Calluses, wind-burned skin, unkempt hair and a generally grizzled appearance are fine – if you’re Brad Pitt. These looks are also acceptable on firefighters, members of the armed forces and oilrig workers. The rest of you, step up your game a bit, put yourself in the hands of a professional and schedule a day at the spa. Trust me; your special lady friend will notice the extra effort.

Winter brings more than just cold weather and holidays; for many of us it means facing the “winter blues.” Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression which affects millions worldwide every winter. Most people start experiencing symptoms in the fall and continue to struggle until spring.

The fitness industry has been growing profusely in the recent years; people are increasingly becoming more health conscious than ever. Banking on this growing fitness madness, over two years ago Nintendo introduced Wii Fit on the market. Wii Fit has acquired immense popularity in the world of gaming, entertainment, and fitness; it has successfully taken a diverging path among the games that come in the same category. Even though it is physically demanding, it takes video gaming to a whole new paradigm and gives the gamer an exciting experience. Wii Fit is a great product for couch potatoes to get them started with some action!

Ok, so maybe you just threw down another one of those men’s fitness magazines in utter frustration. It’s the pictures that really get to you. Why? Because the dudes in those zines have six-pack abs, massive muscles from the neck down, and you’ve been working out as hard as you can, but it never seems to happen as fast or as big as you’d like.
