UFC Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale Preview and Predictions

Keith Jardine tries to snap a three fight losing streak versus Matt Hamill Keith Jardine tries to snap a three fight losing streak versus Matt Hamill

The UFC’s reality TV show, The Ultimate Fighter, has reached the final stages of its 11th season. As usual, the final night features the big fight for the UFC contract, as well as other high-profile fights between established UFC names. Saturday June 19 will see the likes of Matt Hamill, Keith Jardine, Spencer Fisher, and Chris Leben highlight a night of MMA.

The main event for this one is the big middleweight final fight between TUF 11 finalists Kris McCray and Court McGee. McCray showed a ton of determination by fighting five times in six weeks to get where he is now. Both fighters capitalized on injuries to other cast members and redeemed early losses, putting together consecutive wins to make it to the finals.

However, McGee has shown himself to be much the better fighter through the course of the season. With some time off, McCray is likely to look better than previously, but he still won’t have what it takes to topple McGee.

McGee via third round TKO.

Matt Hamill and Keith Jardine meet in a battle between light heavyweights with contrasting records. Hamill has won his last three fights, while Jardine has lost his last three. That said, the DQ win over Jon Jones by Hamill was not much of a victory.

Still, Hamill has been able to find a way into the winner’s column, while Jardine hasn’t. Jardine’s unusual rhythm on his feet is likely to throw Hamill for a loop, but Hamill’s wrestling should prevail in the way of a slow grinding decision win.

Hamill via unanimous decision.

Aaron Simpson puts his undefeated record on the line versus the uneven Chris Leben. Leben has shown at times that he can beat quality competitors in the UFC, but his recklessness has often cost him. He’ll be open to the takedown and Simpson should be able to ground and pound a victory in this one.

Simpson via unanimous decision.

Spencer Fisher takes on Dennis Siver in what is likely to be the Fight of the Night. Siver has looked very good in every outing despite losing to Ross Pearson in March. Fisher is one of the toughest guys in the UFC and has faced a who’s who of opponents in his tenure. Siver will be in tough here as Fisher is cagey enough to avoid Siver’s incredible kicks and disrupt his pace.

Fisher via unanimous decision.

The other TUF 11 cast members making it to the televised card are Jamie Yager and Rich Attonito. This is a toss up, but let’s call it for the less annoying of the two.

Attonito via 3rd round TKO.

The Ultimate Fighter has been a successful way for UFC to spread the word about its brand, and the Season 11 finale will provide at least one great fight in Fisher vs. Siver. The other ones look like they could be slow, but the UFC has a tendency to pull out surprises. Let’s hope that’s true here.
