Oliver Peck's 5 Essential Tattooing Meccas

Oliver Peck is one of the world's most renowned tattoo artists. Oliver Peck is one of the world's most renowned tattoo artists.

Oliver Peck has had an amazing career in tattooing. A judge on Spike TV’s Ink Master, he also owns two of America’s most respected tattoo shops and has worked all over the world, from England to Thailand. Rosebud Magazine asked Peck to tell us his five essential tattoo shops. “These are places that I love to visit and work in,” says the master tattooer. “I love each shop’s atmosphere and the people who work at these shops.”

Elm Street Tattoo (Dallas, Texas) & True Tattoo (Los Angeles, Calif.)
I love tattooing at my own shops. I have been working with the folks in both shops for years and we have solid crews. The clientele is great, and the atmosphere is like an old-fashioned tattoo shop. If you were to look into the window, you’d know immediately what’s going on inside.

Frith Street (London, England)

My good friend Dante Di Massa owns this shop. There are artists who only do Japanese, working next to folks like me, who do traditional tattoos on the fly. They have a wide rang of artists there: Valerie Vargas, Stewart Robson, Jordan Tear, Emiliano Liberatori, Stefano C. All of these guys do amazing tattoos. They have a wide rang of clientele in the heart of the London’s Soho District.

Ink Addiction (Verona, Italy)

This shop is owned by one of my favorite people, Giuseppe “Beppe” Strambini. Everybody at Ink Addiction takes their time and does really nice tattoos. It’s a beautiful place to work and really represents the Italian tattoo community, which is really opened-minded. Beppe also comes to America to guest at different shops.

Infamous Studio (Stockholm, Sweden)

Owner Theo Jack is an American who I have known for over 15 years. Infamous Studio is different because no one walks into the shop wanting to get a tattoo. People make their appointments weeks in advance and really think out what they want to do. Swedish people have really good skin, so they adapt well to color, and they heal very well. Everyone takes good care of their tattoos.

All Star Tattoo (Limerick, Ireland)

The owner, Ross Nagle, is one of my favorite tattooers. He takes a lot of different styles — traditional, black-and-gray and Japanese — and makes his own thing. Limerick is a rough-and-tough kind of town (aka Stab City) but has some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Their normal hours are noon to 8 p.m., but when I show up, we just stay and work till 3 in the morning.
